TR0503 - Stress Calculations and Design Criteria for Clamp Type Connectors

 

AWHEM Clamp Stress Calculation Program Background:

AWHEM Clamp stress calculation program was developed to design clamps for hub sizes included in API Spec 6A, 14th edition. Starting with first edition of API Spec 16A, hub sizes were included in this new API Specification.

The original AWHEM Clamp stress calculation program was written in FORTRAN language and subsequently written in BASIC programming language which is not compatible with current software/hardware technology. Therefore, MATHCAD program is developed using the same nomenclature and derived equations to calculate stresses.
